t-rex infection

my friend dave has been playin a lot of t-rex lately and now the songs come bouncing into my head anytime silence lingers. i heard that if you can get the tune caught in another persons brain that it will leave yours. i actually like t-rex, so i'm not that upset if it sticks around, but let try a little experiment shall we.

this is a pretty glammed up version of "hot love", full of glitter and backup singers. i love the backup singers. also look at how many tambourines there are! so, time to stand out in the rain and catch something.

jimmy carter says "yes"

i watched a documentary recently called off the charts about song poems. unbeknownst to me there has been studio bands cutting tracks for people that mail in their lyrics since around the 1950-60's. these amateur lyricist have taken the time to read those small advertisements in the back of magazines and newspapers to discover for a small portion of money they can see their musical visions come to life with the potential of chart topping success. this method of musical rearing has produced some very beautiful car wrecks.

take this song for instance written by waskey elwood walls jr. and played by gene marshall. i believe waskey is the man rockin out to this funky owed to our 39th president. i really dig his thumb moves.

enticed? the rest of the documentary can be viewed here.

drowning in the fourth of july

we may not even be close to seeing organized firework displays, but that doesn't matter. i was watching this video last night and the whole thing seemed to sit right next to my feelings at the time. maybe i shouldn't be so impatient and wait till march 4th to post this, but does everything really need to be so perfect.

flashbeagle

when i was younger we use to tape stuff off the tv, as i'm sure a lot of people did who lived through the popularity of vhs in 80's. a poor man video collection of mixed cassettes adorned with every kind of tv special. there was one tape i remember in particular that had a rather strange charlie brown cartoon on it, which i recently recalled, of snoopy dancing his heart out on a tile lit floor. i had to remember the name of the movie that unearthed this jazzercise dressed dog. well i found it and if you don't know its flash beagle, charlie brown you blockhead.

follow the link to the video and make sure to watch till mid way through or you could miss out on one awesome cheesed out 80's groove.
